The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) signed an agreement yesterday at the Islamic Center's multi-purpose hall to conduct research in identifying the effects local tourism has on society.

A total of two agreements were signed, with research on local tourism being signed by Deputy Minister Hawwa Latheef on behalf of the ministry and Dean Dr. Aminath Shafiya Adam signing on behalf of IUM.

The second agreement that was signed was in making arrangements for the Islamic Waqf Fund being a platinum sponsor for IUM's International Conference on Intellectual Advancement.

State Minister Dr. Mohamed Shujau Abdul Hakeem signed on behalf of the ministry, and Vice Chancellor Dr. Visal Moosa signed on behalf of IUM.
