Sports journalist Saaidh Ahmed, who has been undergoing dialysis treatment for kidney failure for several years now, has suffered a stroke today after completing dialysis. He is currently receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). 

A close associate of State TV PSM's Sports Desk Editor Saaidh told Mihaaru News that he had gone to IGMH today for dialysis treatment. His condition worsened following the dialysis treatment, and subsequent tests showed that he had suffered a stroke, the associate said. 

Saaidh is now in care at the Intensive Care Unit at IGMH. On condition of anonymity, the associate said that Saaidh's condition is now critical. 

Saaidh's kidney failure was diagnosed around eight years ago. Since then, he has been undergoing regular dialysis treatment. He has previously sought kidney transplants abroad a number of times, however it was not possible due to various reasons. 

It has been reported that he has suffered the stroke at a time when all arrangements had already been in place to undergo a kidney transplant abroad, with travel also arranged for within the week.
