Professor Dr. Muneeza has won the International Islamic University Malaysia's (IIUM) Alumni Icon Award.

According to yesterday's post from Malaysia's INCEIF University, the university Professor Muneeza works at, she has won the "IIUM Alumni Icon Award 2026".

Along with being a professor at INCEIF University, Professor Muneeza is also an Associate Dean (Student and Internationalization).

The Alumni Icon Award is an award meant to recognize continuous courage and leadership with a vision for the future, along with their service to the education industry, public service and the global Islamic financial system.

Sitting Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has also won this award in 2022.

Dr. Muneeza is a notable person in education, Islamic economy, the financial system industry both in Maldives and globally, and is the first woman from Maldives to be named a professor.

Dr. Muneeza is also the first woman in Maldives to serve as the Deputy Minister in the Islamic Ministry of Maldives, the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Finance and as the Head of Islamic Finance in the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA).
