Police have arrested a man in Addu City for allegedly buying stolen goods at below-market prices.

The man, identified as Abdullah Umar, was arrested during an operation conducted by Gan Police Station early on Thursday.

Police said a search of Faagathige in Maradhoo led to the recovery of 65 items believed to have been stolen from various homes in Addu City.

The items included power tools, cartridges, speakers and lights, among other goods, police said. Some of the recovered items have since been returned to their owners.

Abdullah was produced before court for a decision on his remand.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and urged the public not to purchase goods they suspect may have been stolen.
