CEO of Male' City Group of Hospitals Ibrahim Haleem has stated that efforts are being conducted to move Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital's (IGMH) laboratory sample services to the ground floor.

In an interview he gave to Mihaaru News, the CEO said that the load for various services increases on certain days. This includes complaints in waiting too long for samples being taken for laboratory testing on public holidays and delays in samples needing to be taken for tests while on an empty stomach, said Haleem.

He said that people who go to be treated at IGMH are not the only ones who seek the hospital's service, and that many people who are treated from private clinics/hospitals also go to IGMH to get tests done.

As it is difficult for people to go to the first floor to get the testing done, Haleem said work is being done to change the sample service to the ground floor.

"We are working to move blood sample services to the ground floor," said the CEO.

The service will be moved to the previous dental department. IGMH said that as the department has a lot of space, it will be easy to offer the service.

IGMH has already made arrangements where those who experience difficulty in climbing stairs can request samples be taken from nursing stations. However, Haleem said during the interview that the decision to make these changes came about as making frequent use of the stairs is not an easy matter.
