Speaker of Parliament and Chairperson of ruling People's National Congress (PNC) Abdul Raheem Abdulla has stated that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu merits salute for the work he has accomplished during the past year and a half. He added that President Muizzu deserves to win the 2028 presidential election.

Speaking at a rally at the AA. Ukulhas PNC Hub last night, Abdul Raheem reflected on the challenging status of the Maldives economy when President Muizzu had assumed office. He said that those who had driven Maldives to that state had expected this administration to declare the nation bankrupt within the first three months.

However, President Muizzu's strong leadership saw the nation recover from the challenges, as he carried on with development projects while also paying off hefty debts incurred by the previous government, Abdul Raheem said.

With all this, President Muizzu merits salute, Abdul Raheem said, strongly praising him.

"Three years on, the nation has not gone bankrupt. Salaries are paid on time. Staple food is available without any shortages. All essential services remain uninterrupted. Development projects are proceeding at speed. Debts are being paid. No loans are taken, no money is being printed. So President Muizzu indeed deserves salute," Abdul Raheem said.

For all these reasons, President Muizzu must be assured a win in the 2028 presidential elections, the Parliament Speaker asserted.
