Work has commenced today on the 50 housing units in AA. Ukulhas contracted to Altec Maldives Pvt Ltd. 

The foundation stone for the project was laid by Housing Minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib and Altec Maldives Pvt Ltd Manager Ibrahim Azeem. 

The housing units are being constructed in the newly reclaimed area in Ukulhas. 

The ceremony marking the start of construction of the housing units was also attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, several cabinet ministers and parliament members, as well as members of the Ukulhas Council. 

The project was awarded to Altec Maldives in November last year, to complete construction of 50 three-bedroom housing units within one year and seven months. 

Ukulhas, with a population of approximately 1,200, has had 13 hectares of land added on through a government land reclamation project in 2023. In addition to the 50 housing units, 250 land plots will also be issued from the reclaimed land, the government has previously announced. 

During his visit to Ukulhas, the President also inaugurated the commencement of a sports complex project.
