National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) data shows that 167 new individuals have registered on the National Disability Registry in two months.
Statistics shared by NSPA in February indicate that there were 15,236 persons registered. This number has risen by 167 in the updated data released today.
Today's release from NSPA shows the number of individuals registered on the Disability Registry as of April end. This comes to a total of 15,403; with 8,915 men and 6,488 women.
The registry includes 5,226 children under the age of 18 of which 3,636 are boys and 1,590 are girls. There are 7,773 persons aged between 10 and 64, and 2,404 persons aged above 65 years.

MVR 55,929,000 has been issued as financial assistance to 15,146 persons with disabilities.
NSPA data further shows that MVR 7,072,834 went towards therapeutic treatment for 253 individuals in April. Under the medical welfare programme, 80 individuals were provided aid for therapeutic treatment, amounting to a total of MVR 524,615.
