The President's Office announced yesterday that applications are now open for the post of Information Commissioner.
Current Information Commissioner Aahid Rasheed was appointed on September 6, 2021. His five year term is set to end next month.
The President's Office said that as the current commissioner's term is nearing completion, they will be accepting applications for the post until 12pm on August 16.
Those who apply for the post must:
- Be a Maldivian aged 35 years or above
- Not be convicted of any hadd offences or corruption charges
- Hold a First degree and seven years' work experience
Further, the applicant must not be filling any positions to which they are elected under the Constitution or laws, be a political appointee, or a be an active member of a political party, the announcement said.
The Information Commissioner's Office was established on July 13, 2014.
