An individual sustained serious injuries in HA. Kelaa today when a wall collapsed after the road beside it was dug up for repair work. 

The man injured in the incident is an employee of Road Development Corporation (RDC) who had been working on the project. He is reportedly from Kelaa itself, and is aged above 60 years. 

Kelaa Council President Ahmed Malik said that the incident occurred around 10:30am today while the road was being dup up for pipe laying ahead of asphalt works. 

"It was a very old wall. I think they might have dug too close to the wall, which caused it to fall," he said. 

The injured man was first treated a the Kelaa Health Centre, according to Malik. He was later transferred to HDh. Kulhudhuffushi for further treatment. 

"At the time, they said he was having difficulty breathing. His leg was also either broken or dislocated, I'm not sure. So he has been taken [to Kulhudhuffushi] for further tests. We will only know more later," Malik said. 

Malik said that RDC has also advised to ensure safety measures are in place while working.
