Compared to last year, the amount received as Zakat on Wealth doubled during this past June, receiving MVR 21.4 million, the Zakat House said today.

Zakat House stated that MVR 21.3 million was received as Zakat on Wealth in June this year. In June last year, MVR 10.6 million was received.

According to the latest statistics published by Zakat House, MVR 34.40 million was received as Zakat on Wealth from April to June this year. That is a 28.7 percent increase compared to the amount received in the same period last year. In that period last year, MVR 26.7 million was received.

According to Zakat House, during the month of June, Zakat House disbursed MVR 18.8 million across various categories of Zakat beneficiaries. Among these, the largest expenditure was made for the category of the poor and needy, with MVR 16.9 million disbursed to that category, Zakat House said.

By the end of last year, statistics show that MVR 107 million was received as Zakat on Wealth. That is a five percent increase compared to the preceding year. In the year 2024, MVR 102 million was received as Zakat on Wealth.

Last year, Zakat on Wealth was distributed at a rate of MVR 5,000 per person.
