Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has launched a campaign to eliminate mosquito breeding sites in Hulhumale'.

HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair, company officials, employees and volunteers took part in the "Madhiri Rahkkaa" campaign, which began on Saturday.

The first phase of the campaign focused on the area between Flats 155 and 163.

An HDC official said more than 300 mosquito breeding sites were removed during the operation.

"Yesterday we conducted the activity in [Hulhumale'] phase 1. In the coming days, we will continue this in [Hulhumale'] phase two 2 and 3," the official said.

HDC said the initiative forms part of its efforts to encourage greater community participation and strengthen environmental responsibility.

The corporation has been carrying out mosquito breeding site elimination campaigns across Hulhumale' Phase 1 and 2 since January, with similar operations continuing through last month.
