Police launch search for former MATI Secretary General

The police issued a notice on Monday, searching for former Secretary General of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), Ibrahim "Sim" Mohamed.

According to the announcement made by the police, Mohamed, the husband of former Minister of Tourism Zulfa Mohamed, is being summoned following a lawsuit filed at the Civil Court. The Police had confirmed that a warrant had been issued to arrest Mohamed, to present him in court on Tuesday.

No other details about the case was made available.

In the announcement, the police announced that it is also looking for two other individuals besides Mohamed, and appealed to the public for information on the whereabouts of these three people.

Mohamed, also a relative of the Maldives Democratic Party’s (MDP) Parliamentary group leader MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, currently lives with his family in Australia. He served as the Secretary General of MATI for a long time and is also a well known writer in the Maldives.
