The Maldives Meteorological (MET) Office has estimated that bad weather will persist until Sunday all over Maldives.

An official from the MET Office told Mihaaru News that they estimate bad weather conditions will persist today and tomorrow across Maldives, and that wind speeds will be high and seas will be rough.

"Our forecast shows that the weather will be bad over the weekend up until Sunday," said the official.

Weather forecasts show that rainfall will be at its peak tomorrow.

The MET Office's forecasts state that a high amount of rainfall and rough seas will persist across HA. Atoll until Faafu Atoll, with a White Alert having been issued until 4:00 pm today. Gusts are expected to reach 40 mph as well, according to the MET Office.

According to the Maldives Nakaiy calendar, today is the ninth Nakaiy, Ahuliha's second day. Even though there is frequent rainfall during this Nakaiy, the skies will be clear, and with the decrease in gusts, seas will become calmer as well.

However, with the changes to the global weather, the Nakaiy calendar and the weather do not match as often.

As Maldivians have said in the past regarding the Nakaiy, if there is rainfall during Ahuliha, the subsequent Maa Nakaiy will see rainfall as well. The Maa Nakaiy begins on 11th August.

The Northeast (Iruvai) Monsoon in Maldives starts in January and ends in March. The Southwest (Hulhangu) Monsoon starts in May and ends in November. April and December are seen as transitional months.
