Police have advised motorists and pedestrians to take precautions while travelling on the Sinamale' Bridge and Link Road due to strong winds and adverse weather conditions.
Traffic Police issued four safety recommendations on social media, including:
- Hijab wearing travelers should secure their hijabs to prevent them from being affected by strong winds.
- Use a good-quality raincoat.
- Maintain a controllable speed while driving during windy conditions.
- Keep vehicle headlights and taillights switched on.
Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has forecast rain across many parts of the country and issued a White Alert for several areas.
The alert is in effect for areas from Haa Alifu Atoll to Faafu Atoll today from 10:45am to 4:00pm.
