Former Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, Ahmed Saeed Mohamed, who was convicted of abuse of official position and sentenced to prison, has now been under house arrest for over five months.

A Maldives Correctional Service Media Official confirmed that Saeed was transferred from prison to house arrest due to health reasons, and that he remains confined at home. They did not disclose any further details about the arrangement.

Saeed was transferred to house arrest on February 15.

He was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of abuse of official position in a case concerning the disbursal of payments to Blazon Inc for work contracted in 2019 despite the company not having completed the work, and without due confirmation of whether they had fulfilled the work.

Saeed is also charged in a separate concern concerning allegations of corruption involved in Fenaka's purchase of an ice plant established by Kaizan Investment in L. Maamendhoo.

Hearings in this case are ongoing at the Criminal Court, but Saeed has denied all charges. He has also appealed his earlier conviction at the High Court.
