The envoy of Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has paid a courtesy call to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu upon his invitation on the occasion of Maldives' 61st Independence Day.
Prince Dr Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Minister of State, and Cabinet Member of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia came to Maldives on behalf of Prince Salman.
As per the President's Office, the meeting held at the office saw President Muizzu warmly greet Dr. Mansour and thanked Saudi Arabia's leaders for accepting the invitation to take part in Maldives' Independence Day activities. The President's Office also stated that President Muizzu expressed his gratitude regarding the cooperation being given from Saudi Arabia to Maldives, especially the "Makka Route Initiative", which was meant as a point of convenience for Maldivian Hajj pilgrims.
The President's Office stated that during the meeting, Dr. Mansour spoke of the importance Saudi Arabia's leaders constantly place on Maldives' development and welfare.
According to the President's Office, the main topic of discussion during the meeting was the shared faith between the two nations, the respect toward one another, the long-standing relationship built upon common values and how their relationship can be further strengthened.
Along with that, the President's Office also said they discussed investments, economic development and opportunities to strengthen industries based on the interests of both nations.
President Muizzu held a special luncheon this afternoon with Dr. Mansour as the Guest of Honor.
Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and Principal Secretary to the President of Foreign Relations Mohamed Naseer greeted Dr. Mansour at Velana International Airport last night.
The Maldivian military deployed an honor guard for the arrival of Prince Salman's envoy.
Special entertainment activities will be held tomorrow night at the Republic Square in celebration of Independence Day, along with a parade of floats by state enterprises. The official Independence Day reception will be held tomorrow morning.
