MTCC has announced that they will start renovation of Ameenee Magu in Male' next week. 

MTCC General Manager Ibrahim Hassan announced the project on State TV PSM's 'Raajje Miadhu' programme last night. 

While Ameenee Magu has had asphalt laid on the road, there are several areas where the asphalt is damaged, creating potholes and bumps on the surface. Renovation of Ameenee Magu was contracted to MTCC on June 15 by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development. 

In July 22, renovation work was initiated on Ameenee Magu by the Road Development Corporation, under the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The work was conducted in several phases, and the project reached completion in early 2024. 

However, by 2025, the road surface was seeing severe damage once again, prompting several isolated repair efforts. 

MVR 84 million from the State budget was spent on laying asphalt and redeveloping Ameenee Magu. There have been previous allegations that the work had been conducted using low quality material at inflated rates.
