The Education Ministry announced on Thursday that school admissions are now open for the 2027 academic year.
Applications for enrolment in Grades LKG and Grade 1 in government schools can be submitted from now until the end of August, the ministry said.
Applications can be submitted online via the dedicated portal as well.
The ministry appealed to applicants to ensure valid information is filled in on the application forms. They further said that the email address and phone number used in filling the forms will be registered at the ministry as the parent's contact details.
Information that need to submitted alongside the application are as follows.
For Maldivian students:
- Copy of the student's National ID Card
- Copy of the parent's National ID Card
- Vaccine Card (If enrolling in school for the first time)
- Child Development Record (If applying for enrolment in LKG)
For foreign students:
- Copy of a valid passport and visa of the student
- Copy of a valid passport, visa and work permit of parent
- Vaccine Card
- Child Development Record (If applying for enrolment in LKG)
When including information about address:
- If living in your premises, include a copy of the registry
- If living on rent, include a copy of the (signed) first and last page the rent agreement
If living at an address rented in the name of a person other than the parent, a no objection letter for residence and a copy of the owner's ID Card must be submitted.
The ministry also confirmed that age categories for enrolment will remain the same.
