Police have warned that they will take action against motorists who park vehicles illegally on the newly opened section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu. 

The section of the road from Henveiru Ferry Terminal to MMA was opened to public this afternoon. With its wide four lanes and coconut palms lining the side, it has changed the face of capital Male'. 

While parking on the street is banned, there is a dedicated parking area built in front of the Bank of Maldives building which has the capacity to hold 500 motorcycles at a time. 

Police today stated that action will be taken against persons parking in places other than the designated parking spaces on Boduthakurufaanu Magu. 

They warned that parking at other areas could pose a risk to public safety. 

With redevelopment of this area now complete, MTCC will next start work on the stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu from the North Harbour to Rasfannu Beach. Design work on this phase of the project has now been completed, MTCC said. 

The Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project was initiated last year. MTCC has said that they have over 200 staff members working on the project.
