Maldives Immigration last night launched new changes to passport services, and also unveiled an exhibition showcasing their service over the years. 

The modernized changes to passport services were officially inaugurated by Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusan. 

Immigration said that the newly launched services prioritize persons who face challenges in utilizing digital platforms, and provide assistance to the elderly and persons with disabilities in applying for passport services online. 

As such, new arrangements have been introduced to assist senior citizens and others in need of special assistance in taking passport photos and completing online applications.

Also launched last night was a dedicated waiting lounge and an information counter to assist service seekers. 

Speaking at the ceremony held last night, Immigration Controller Ahmed Faseeh said that the office prioritizes consistently improving public services such as this. 

"Maldivian passport services are amongst the most important services we offer to citizens. While the service is now available in all atolls of the country, our goal is to further expand the service and ensure every citizen receives the service without any inconvenience," Faseeh said. 

An exhibition was also launched at the Immigration Head Office on the first floor of Velanage' last night, titled 'Immigration Walk of Legacy'. This exhibition showcases photos from when the office was first established in 1950 till now, highlighting all those who have contributed to building the service across the years. 

Another section, titled 'From the Archives', displays memories of all those who have worked towards the advancement of Maldives Immigration. It shows how the service has expanded to cover various regions of the country, and includes a chart indicating the islands on which Immigration services are now available.
