MTCC has announced that the most recently redeveloped section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be opened for public use this afternoon. 

The stretch of the road from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to Izzudheen Jetty has been widened and asphalt laid. 

MTCC said that the road will be officially opened this afternoon. A number of minor works are yet to be completed, the company said, including affixing railings on the stairs leading from the inner seawall. 

Red curbstones will be laid to demarcate these stairs, according to MTCC. 

The road development project also including planting over 3,100 plants lining the side of the street. Staff from several ministries and SOEs participated in a tree planting event on Boduthakurufaanu Magu yesterday as well. 

MTCC previously held a tree planting programme from the North Harbour to the Local Market area. 

Altogether, over 3,100 plants have now been planted between the Henveiru Ferry Terminal and Male' North Harbour, the company said. 

The most recently renovated stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu has coconut palms lining the street, a unique sight in capital Male'. 

While parking on the street will be prohibited, a dedicated parking area has been constructed in front of Bank of Maldives, with a capacity to hold 500 motorcycles.
