Coconut palms have been planted along the newly developed section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu. 

Asphalt has now been laid on the stretch of the road from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to Izzudheen Jetty. Preparations are now underway to open the road for public use soon. 

As part of these preparations, MTCC is planting Maldivian coconut palms and other trees along the side of the road. 

There has been consistent public complaints about the removal of trees during road renovations. There have also been concerns that plants that are then planted are not suited for the country's climate and environment. 

Renovation of the southern side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu included the planting of date palms. This was also met with public baclash, with many opining that Maldivian coconut palms would have been a better fit. 

The northern side of the same road, which is currently under redevelopment, saw the removal of portia trees (hirundhu gas). Many were displeased about this. However, some of these trees were replanted in Hulhumale', while others were replanted again on the same stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
