President Dr Mohamed Muizzu yesterday issued a decree excluding Savaaheli from the Addu City administrative jurisdiction, for the purpose of facilitating tourism development. 

The change was brought through a presidential decree issued under Section 56-1(a) of the Decentralization Act, which allows the President to determine and designate the administrative jurisdictions of city and island councils, the President's Office said. 

Savaaheli is an island between Feydhoo and MaradhooFeydhoo. 

Savaaheli has been removed from Addu City's jurisdiction while the Addu City Council has planned and announced a tourism development project targeting the island.
