The People's National Congress (PNC) has taken responsibility for the damage caused amidst the unrest during the party's internal election's ballot counting process at the Kaamil Didi Primary School in Hulhumale'.

Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu told Mihaaru News that a glass panel on a window and the mixer button on the sound system were damaged during the altercation.

And so, the minister said PNC has taken responsibility and has assured they will provide compensation.

An altercation occurred between candidate representatives while the ballot counting process for the North Hulhumale' constituency for the PNC's internal election held on 11th July was being conducted at the Kaamil Didi Primary School.

A video circulated on social media on 12th July, where the video shows them throwing chairs at each other and shouting threats. Property on the premises were damaged during the altercation as well.

A total of three people were arrested regarding the case last week, with their remand sentences having been increased.
