President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that vehicle parking will not be allowed on the newly developed section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu that is prepared to be opened.

The road widening, transformation into four lanes, and asphalt laying from the Male'-Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal up to the Izzudheen Jetty has been completed. Preparations are underway to open the road to the public within this coming week.

According to the President in the podcast conducted by the President's Office under the name "The Pulse", parking on the side of the road like before cannot be done anymore.

When the road was widened and developed by reclaiming the lagoon, a motorcycle parking area was constructed by reclaiming a portion of the lagoon. The President has stated that 500 motorcycles can be parked at the same time in that area.

"Then it will be very easy to drive. Once the road users park there and walk to the office and the area they are going to, it will be very pleasant," the President said.

The President said that the plan is to make the road pleasant by nicely planting trees on both sides.

"Trees will be planted, but when it is opened, all trees will not be grown, right, things take some time," the President said.

Even when Boduthakurufaanu Magu was developed with asphalt during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen, it was determined that parking would not be allowed on that road. However, motorcycles are currently parked on both sides of that road now.

Under the first phase of constructing Boduthakurufaanu Magu contracted to MTCC by this government, the area from the MPL region to the Izzudheen Jetty was also developed with the condition of no vehicle parking on the road. But since there is no alternative way to park in that area, vehicles continue to park on the road.
