A total of 225 military personnel who completed the 72nd and 73rd Basic Training Courses, graduating this year, took their oath of enlistment today.
President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, honored the ceremony held for the occasion at the Girifushi Training Centre and presented the rifles to the graduates who completed the training program.
Minister of Defence Hassan Rashid and Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy also accompanied the President at the ceremony.
Those who took their oath today include 138 personnel who participated in the 72nd training program, which was conducted for a duration of four months starting from March 7 this year, and 117 personnel who completed the 73rd training program.
High Court Judge Hussain Mazeed administered the oath to the students of the two batches held this year at the Southern Area Command's Addu Training Centre.
The Basic Training Course is conducted to train and educate new recruits joining the military service to a standard where they can work across various sectors of the military.
The course is primarily focused on ensuring that every completing military personnel is patriotic, disciplined, well-mannered, obedient to orders, and physically fit, alongside teaching the basic knowledge and skills a military personnel must possess.
