The first term of the academic year ends today as students receive report cards and go on a 12-day break.
According to the Education Ministry's official academic calendar, the second term is due to start on August 2.
The year-end holidays this year are set to begin on December 18 and last through January 12, 2027. January 13 is Teachers' Reporting Day and the next academic year will then officially start on January 17.

The ministry has said that there are currently over 81,000 students enrolled in 217 government schools, with 9950 teachers employed.
In private schools, there are over 13,000 students studying from grades LKG to 12, of which over 9000 are in the Male' region.

This year, 1,530 students have transferred from atoll schools to Male' schools. 836 students from Male' schools have also transferred to schools in Hulhumale'.
