The Male' City Council has decided to make arrangements for a wedding reception venue free of charge for those getting married for the first time.

This is a campaign pledge of Mayor Adam Azim and some councilors.

During today's Male' City Council meeting, the decision was made to draft up a set of regulations to be followed, to publicize the regulations and to make it so that the public can make requests for it.

While the Male' City Council has decided to make arrangements for a wedding reception venue free of charge for first marriages, the council has been generating a sizable revenue by renting out spaces for wedding ceremonies.

Lonuziyaaraiy Park is one such place under Male' City Council's management, with the location hosting most weddings in Male'.

Many wedding ceremonies take place in Male' monthly, with a large expense being incurred in renting such places.
