MTCC has stated that they will finish the asphalt work on the remainder of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu, which is being upgraded to modern standards.

The stretch of road from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the Presidential Jetty was closed off for the repair and upgrade on 23rd March. Under this project, asphalt was laid on the section of road from the terminal to the Foreign Ministry on 8th July.

The asphalt process from the Foreign Ministry to the Presidential Jetty began afterward, with MTCC stating work on the sub-base and ABC layering has been completed, with asphalt efforts to conclude today.

Road markings have been painted onto the section of the road that has already had asphalt laid.

MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saeed told Mihaaru News previously the work is set to finish and to open to the public before 26th July.

Many ministries and offices operate in the area, with the road being heavily damaged. The road was bumpy and uneven in many parts, with parking difficulties being present as well.

The government has said that once the area has been developed, the road will have enough space where motorcycles can be parked on one side of the road, with the Fishermen's Park area being repaired as well.

Under the project of laying asphalt on Boduthakurufaanu Magu and repairing it to modern standards, the stretch of road from the North Harbor to the Republic Square has been previously completed and is currently in use. As that section of road has been expanded, congestion in the area has eased up.

While MVR 144 million has been set aside in the state budget to repair the outer road, the project is to be finished within 455 days.
