President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has today left for Qatar on an official visit. 

The President's Office stated that President Muizzu is visiting Qatar to pay respects to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, the Royal Family, and the people of Qatar following the passing of former Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. 

Qatar is expected to receive visits from numerous international leaders offering condolences. 

The former leader was seen as one of the key architects of modern Qatar and led the country during a period of rapid economic growth.

Sheikh Hamad has also provided extensive support to the Maldives in various areas, including the development of mosques. One such contribution is the Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani School in L. Gan.
