Data from the Statistics Bureau show that there are more expatriate men in the workforce than working Maldivian men.
The report that was publicized in celebration of World Population Day yesterday reads that one out of three people that live in Maldives is an expatriate, and that 47 percent of men living in Maldives are expatriates.
The bureau said the working age population from those living in Male' is high, and that expatriates in that age range are high as well.

The report stated there is a lack of people in the 20 to 29 age range living in islands. The Statistics Bureau also said people in the 20 to 44 age range who work in resorts and do industrial work in islands is high, with the number of expatriates within those numbers being high as well.
43 percent of the population lives in Male', with the rest living in islands.
One of three people within the Male' population is an expatriate. While one in five people living in islands is an expatriate, 80 percent of the population in non-administrative islands are expatriates as well.
The majority of the Maldivian population is between 36 to 64 years of age, which is 37 percent of the people. Those aged between 0 to 17 make up 29 percent of the population. The youth, aged between 18 to 35, is at 27 percent.
