HDh atoll courts close 451 cases in six months

The courts of Haa Dhaalu atoll have concluded 451 cases in the first six months of the year.

The courts of Haa Dhaalu atoll have concluded 451 cases in the first six months of the year. 

The HDh judicial sector, which serves a population of over 22,800, shared statistics of their work which indicates that 435 cases had been filed at their courts within the first six months. This covers courts in 13 islands, including Kulhudhuhfushi Magistrate Court. 

The courts completed 451 cases within six months, and are currently hearing 253 cases. 

In the region, the highest number of cases were submitted to Kulhudhuhfushi Magistrate Court, which serves the largest population. This court received 242 cases, of which 241 have been closed. There are a number of pending cases from before, and 143 ongoing cases. 

The least number of cases were filed at Kurin'bi, Hirimaradhoo and Navaidhoo courts. Each of these courts received four cases within the six month period. 

The courts have also shared statistics of marriage and divorces. Over the past six months, 102 marriages have been officiated by the HDh judicial sector, and 90 divorces were recorded. 

In Kulhudhuhfushi alone, there are 54 marriages and 49 divorces. According to the data, there have been no divorces recorded in Neykurendhoo, Hirimaradhoo and Nellaidhoo.
