Water and electricity services began being offered yesterday for vessels that transport goods and passengers in Male' North Harbor's "A-Zone".
The Male' North Harbor is the responsibility of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL). According to a statement of theirs, electricity and water services were only given to B-Zone and C-Zone. They went on to say that the services began being offered in A-Zone as per President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's request once the expansion work for the Boduthakurufaanu Magu in that area had finished.
As per MPL, the work to provide water and electricity to A-Zone began in March 2026.
"Providing water and electricity services to the Male' North Harbor's A-Zone will see more ease for the vessels that make use of the harbor. A-Zone is able to provide electricity to 48 vessels simultaneously. 16 points where water is served have been established as well," as was written in MPL's statement, which was publicized last night.
MPL outlined the hard work that was done by their relevant departments in offering the services.
