President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has nominated Mohamed Haleem Abdulla and Fathimath Ameeza for the post of Commissioner General of Taxation, with their names submitted to Parliament for approval.

In a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, the President said the two nominees were his preference from among the applicants for the position.

Haleem is the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Maldives (CA Maldives) and holds a Master's degree in Professional Accountancy from the University of London. He has extensive experience in the accounting profession.

Ameeza holds a Master's degree in Accounting from Monash University and currently serves as the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation.

The position became vacant after former Commissioner General of Taxation Hassan Zareer resigned following his appointment as Finance Minister.
