Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has confirmed that the child who fell from the Amaan Dhoadhi tower in Hulhumale' Phase 2 has now been taken off ventilator support. 

The 16 year old boy fell from the first floor of the Amaan Dhoadhi building last Tuesday. 

He was first treated at the Hulhumale' Hospital before being transferred to IGMH, where he was treated while on ventilator support. 

An IGMH Media Official stated that the boy's condition has now improved, leading the medical team to take him off ventilator support and transfer him to the general ward. Details of injuries sustained were not disclosed by IGMH. 

On the night of the incident, Hulhumale' Hospital said that the child had been brought there with the aid of police at around 11:25pm. The child had been conscious and able to speak at the time, and his vitals had been stable, the hospital said. 

Although the child had been coherent, he had been bleeding from the throat and hence had difficulty speaking, the hospital said then. They added that he also had an injury on his chin. 

The child also suffered a broken bone in his thigh, swollen knees, and several other fractures on his face. A CT scan of his brain cleared any occurrence of internal bleeding, they said. 

Authorities have not yet revealed what caused the fall, and police have said that they are continuing investigations into the incident.
