The Cabinet decided today to launch RTL ferry services in all atolls of the Maldives before the end of January next year.

The President's Office stated that during today's Cabinet meeting, it was decided to implement special measures with the aim of strengthening the services provided to the public by the government and completing projects within specified deadlines. The office noted that this includes launching RTL services across all atolls.

Accordingly, the President's Office said that it has been decided to give special priority to completing all necessary tasks to establish the RTL network and commence the service nationwide before the end of January next year.

Furthermore, taking into account dangerous incidents that occur in places where chemicals are stored, the Cabinet also decided that, similar to Male', permits to establish such facilities in the islands will now only be granted in safe areas away from residential zones, the President's Office stated.

While the decision has been made to launch RTL services across the entire Maldives, the government is currently providing RTL ferry services in 12 atolls through MTCC. Additionally, the company's bus services are being provided in six atolls in addition to Male'. The company also launched its taxi line service in the Male' area this past April.
