A company has been fined MVR 5,000 after two workers fell from the first floor of a building under construction on Majeedhee Magu.

Male' City Council said the fine was imposed on Beatrix Dreams after determining that workers had been deployed without the required safety measures.

The incident occurred on Saturday at the Pose Perfume building, where two workers fell from the first floor while carrying out construction work.

The injured workers were identified as a 22-year-old Nepali man and a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man.

According to the council, the company was penalized for negligence in failing to ensure adequate workplace safety.

One of the injured workers has since been discharged from hospital after receiving treatment, while the other remains hospitalized.

The Maldives Police Service is also investigating the incident.
