The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has brought an amendment to its investigative procedure regulations, making it mandatory to give special attention to and swiftly conclude corruption cases investigated at the instruction of the Prosecutor General's Office (PG).

Amendments to the regulations formulated by the ACC in 2014 were gazetted today. A new chapter has been added to the regulations, outlining the procedures to be followed regarding directives issued to the commission.

This chapter details the procedures on how a case must be concluded with special priority if the PG instructs the commission to investigate a specific matter.

According to the amendment brought to the regulations, the commission must swiftly conclude cases investigated at the instruction of the PG. It also states that if a directive concerns a case not yet registered with the ACC, that case must be registered.

Furthermore, the newly added chapter stipulates that if the ACC is instructed to verify a matter under an order issued by the PG, the commission's investigation into that matter must also be concluded swiftly.

According to the regulations, if the PG issues a directive and no specific timeframe is determined for action to be taken regarding it, the ACC must respond to the PG Office within seven days from the date the directive was given.

The regulations also state that if a response cannot be provided within that timeframe, the commission may request an extension of an additional seven days.
