MQA CEO Fizana Rashid has stated that she will not back down even if subjected to mockery and harassment, and that the situation visible today is the result of letting things happen as they may out of fear of losing employment.
In a post made on Facebook, Fizana stated that facing false accusations and threats of being taken to court are matters she has experienced almost daily from the heads of certain institutions over the past two and a half years.
She stated that if something is being done incorrectly, even if it is something that was done previously, stopping it within the laws and regulations is a responsibility placed upon her.
"The result of leaving things to happen as they may out of fear for the position since it is a political post is visible today," Fizana wrote.
Fizana stated that it is a misconception to assume she would back down from harassment and mockery just because she is a woman.
Highlighting the magnitude of the responsibility entrusted to her by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Fizana stated that her superiors do not instruct her to do anything against the law.
"My superiors will not support me or instruct me to do anything illegal. And no member will tell me to do anything contrary to the law either," Fizana wrote.
She stated that things can only be reformed with everyone's cooperation. She also requested to be given the opportunity to fulfill her responsibilities.
"I will not back down through intimidation. I am a leader. However, I am a servant of the public." Fizana wrote.
Fizana stated that she is aware that the position of MQA CEO is a political post, and therefore, she also knows she could be removed from office. However, Fizana added that the livelihood destined for her by Almighty Allah cannot be closed.
It is unclear from whose side the harassment and mockery are being directed at Fizana for her to make such a post. However, Fizana has been advocating against the issues of conducting courses without permission and fake certificates. Furthermore, MQA has been taking action against some colleges.
