Police have requested that vehicles parked in the area between the Carnival and Henveiru Terminal be removed as asphalt works are due to start on Boduthakurufaanu Magu. 

Police announced that the stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu where asphalt is to be laid will be closed from 11:50pm tonight onwards. Parking in this area is prohibited from this time on, and Police have instructed any vehicles currently parked in the area to be removed before this deadline. 

Any vehicles that remain will be towed, according to Police. 

On March 23, parts of Boduthakurufaanu Magu were closed to the public and development work was commenced. 

MTCC said that the asphalt works will be conducted in two separate phases. First, asphalt will be laid at the stretch of the road spanning from Henveiru Terminal to the Foreign Ministry. Once this is complete, asphalt will then be laid in the area from Foreign Ministry to the official jetty. 

The company said that in preparation for this work, the area of the road from Henveiru Terminal to the Carnival Parking Zone will be temporarily closed. Despite road closure, vehicles will continue to be able to access the parking area itself. 

Last Monday, MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhy said that the development of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is expected to reach completion ahead of July 26.   

The company announced that under phase one of the project, sewerage and water lines, main water pipes, stormwater catchpit and cable junction works have also now been completed.
