Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has issued a second invitation for bids to supply materials required for the construction of a parking facility at the former Ghaazee Building site.

In an announcement issued, the ministry said the initial tender did not receive an adequate response. It added that the scope of the project had also been revised, prompting the decision to reissue the announcement.

Interested parties have been invited to submit bids for the project. The ministry said requests for further information must be submitted by 12:00 pm on tomorrow.

According to the announcement, bids will be opened at 9:00 am on Saturday at the ministry.

The Ghaazee Building, located on Ameer Ahmed Magu adjacent to the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building, was demolished in 2023 after deteriorating to a state where it could no longer be used.

Following its demolition, the site was used as a temporary motorcycle parking area until March last year.

The government has since awarded Road Development Corporation (RDC) the contract to develop a public park on the land. The government have said the project will be similar in concept to Jumhooree Maizaan.

Motorcycles previously parked at the site have been removed and the area has been fenced off in preparation for development work.

The Huravee Building, another government office complex located on Ameer Ahmed Magu, was also demolished in 2023 after being deemed structurally unsafe. A motorcycle parking area was later established on that site, opposite the President's Office.
