Police have issued a red notice through the Interpol for the arrest of a man accused of sexually abusing a child.

The notice has been issued for Izyan Abdul Hameed of F. Nilandhoo, Raahi.

Police said the 38-year-old suspect left the Maldives after he was reported to have sexually assaulted a child. His current whereabouts are unknown, police added.

A red notice is a request circulated through Interpol to assist law enforcement agencies worldwide in locating and provisionally arresting a person pending extradition or similar legal action. It is issued for individuals wanted for prosecution or to serve a sentence.
