Traffic at the junction of Chaandhanee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu has been temporarily changed to allow two-way movement, Male' City Council announced.

Mayor Adam Azim told Mihaaru News that the change was made at the request of the traffic police due to ongoing roadworks on Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

Under the temporary arrangement, vehicles will be allowed to travel in both directions until construction work is completed, Azim said.

The change will enable vehicles exiting Orchid Magu to travel towards Boduthakurufaanu Magu via Chaandhanee Magu.

"There is significant traffic congestion in that area. The change was made at the request of the traffic police to make it easier for people to travel in that direction until the road project is completed," Mayor Azim said.

The third phase of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project, covering the stretch from Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the Presidential Jetty, began on March 23.

According to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), work on the road is scheduled to be completed by July 26.
