A special training program is underway for Fenaka Corporation staff in order to make them more responsible.

Fenaka stated that the program titled "Achieving Professional Success through Islamic Values" began yesterday and was designed to provide instruction into  administrative management for company executives and to strengthen the work ethic and principles of employees.

"...This is a broad activity that will go on for some time meant to include all Fenaka staff across Maldives," as was posted on Fenaka's social media.

Fenaka Managing Director Mohamed Afeef Hassan told Mihaaru News that the training program is being held in collaboration between the Fenaka Institute for Training and Research and the Jamiyyath Salaf's "Uyoon Institute".

He said that the main purpose of the program is to raise awareness among staff regarding the religious importance of fulfilling one's professional responsibilities. Along with that, the program will teach work ethic and other important factors in conducting one's professional duties.

"We are conducting this program in order to make our employees more responsible, as Fenaka has quite a high number of staff. Our staff are quite interested in the program," said Afeef.

According to a previous interview Afeef had given, Fenaka has more than 8,000 employees and there are a lot of them who have a lack of work and would clock in only to tend to personal matters. Fenaka has begun work to sort out the issue and to strengthen the company financially.

It was under this policy the company offered to staff earlier this month who wanted to voluntarily resign in exchange for a severance package worth six months of their salary.

Afeef said yesterday that 97 staff made use of this opportunity, which was offered to them until 14th June.

"Along with those staff, there is major support from island branches in the reduction of staff, along with rightsizing the company. Some island branch management have requested their branches be rightsized as well," as Afeef said.

He said that there are employees who are signed into work without any work to do, and there is dissatisfaction among employees who are actually doing the work, with the restructuring intending to address inefficiencies in staffing as well.

According to Afeef, the redundancy process for applicants will be completed in July, with further reductions expected to continue through the year.

"The restructuring will occur in accordance the our 2026 budget. However, after company rightsizing ends, we will designate a budget in accordance with the size of the company at the end of the year," said Afeef.
