Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has decided that he will not verbally communicate with Mayor of Male' Adam Azim unless they are documented as there has been confusion around some verbal communication with the mayor.

Minister Muththalib made this decision and wrote this in a letter sent to Mayor Azim last Thursday.

In the letter, Muththalib wrote that people have taken to various platforms and spoke of the confusion surrounding recent verbal communication with Azim.

Minister Muththalib stated that there has been no cooperation from Mayor Azim during discussions that have been held by the ministry with the Male' City Council regarding government projects for the development of Male' and in easing the lives of the public.

"I believe that it would be in everyone's best interest to conduct written communication rather than pulling "media stunts"," wrote Muththalib in the letter.

Minister Muththalib requested the Mayor and the Male' City Council to tell the ministry what they require in writing.

Mayor Azim and all Male' City Councilors went to Dharubaaruge last Wednesday as their attempts to meet with Minister Muththalib to share their opinions regarding the work surrounding development work in Male', to share public concerns and submit projects have not seen any success.

Azim has stated that they were unable to meet with the minister last week as he was preoccupied with other matters, and that the ministry has told them that a meeting with the minister will be arranged within this week.

mayor Azim went on to say that Muththalib "is a minister who is always in hiding" and that councilors will go to the ministry every week until the meeting is set.

As per Azim, one of the main issues as to why they want to meet with Muththalib and hold a discussion is to share the public's concerns regarding the government's planned housing project in the Villimale' Funava area. A petition to stop the felling of trees in the area has been submitted to the Parliament as well.

Along with that, Azim also said that they would like to meet with Muththalib to discuss various matters such as the project to repair the roads of Male' and the new Fish Market project.
