The Ministry of Housing announced tonight that more than 58,000 applications have been submitted for flats and land plots under the government's housing scheme.
The ministry stated that a total of 58,505 application forms were submitted to the "Bohiyavahikan Portal," which was established for individuals to apply for land plots and flats from the Male' area under the "Bohiyavahikan Enmenah" policy.
This includes 35,930 applications submitted for flats and 22,575 applications submitted for land plots. The deadline for submitting applications for flats and land plots expired at 2:00 AM last night.
This marks the highest number of applications ever submitted to a housing scheme conducted by a government.
Most recently, more than 40,000 applications were submitted for the "Gedhoruveriya" and "Binveriya" schemes conducted during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Following a sudden technical issue encountered with the "Bohiyavahikan Portal" last night, the Ministry of Housing extended the application deadline until 2:00 AM last night.
The deadline for submitting application forms for land plots and flats has previously been extended on several occasions due to various reasons. After previously being set to expire on May 31, the opportunity was extended until 11:59 last night due to the recent Eid al-Adha holidays.
Under the government's ongoing "Bohiyavahikan Enmenah" initiative, the "Ailee Bohiyavahikan" program opened on January 18, through which a decision was made to allocate 7,900 flats and a total of 15,000 land plots of 1,250 square feet.
The government has designated the allocation of flats as follows: 4,000 flats for registered residents of Male', 1,500 flats for individuals living in Male' who are not registered residents, and an additional 2,400 flats allocated for special categories.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that a decision has been made to allocate 25,000 land plots from Rasmalé, which is currently being reclaimed to provide a housing solution. However, 15,000 land plots will be released from the site during the initial round.
