A residence in Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Addu City, allegedly used for drug-related activities has been closed under a court order, police said.
According to the police website, the Islands Court issued an order to seal the property, named "Unmeedhuge", for a period of 90 days.
This marks the first such closure order issued by the Maradhoo-Feydhoo court under the Drug Act, police said.
Authorities stated that it is a criminal offence to enter or exit premises that have been sealed under a court order during the period of closure. Police warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who violates the order or damages the property.
The closure comes amid a series of similar enforcement actions in Addu City and other parts of the country.
Earlier this month, Hithadhoo Magistrate’s Court ordered the closure of another residence, "Laamiyaage", for three months. An individual was subsequently arrested for allegedly entering the property in violation of that order.
Last month, authorities also sealed a property in Fuvahmulah that was reportedly being used as a drug-related premises for the sale and use of illicit substances.
