A man has been arrested for allegedly entering a house in Addu City that had been sealed under a court order due to its alleged links to theft, robbery and drug-related activities.

Police said the house, "Laamiyaage" in Hithadhoo, was ordered closed by the Hithadhoo Magistrate's Court for a period of three months, from 8 June to 6 September.

According to Addu City Police, the property had been sealed and a notice placed outside the premises when the individual entered the house on Sunday in violation of the court order.

The court subsequently ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody for seven days.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the arrested individual.

Authorities previously said the property was being used by individuals involved in criminal activities, including theft, robbery and drug use. Police said residents had repeatedly complained about disturbances linked to the house and requested action to address the issue.

Police warned that entering premises sealed under a court order without permission is an offence. They added that legal action would be taken against anyone who unlawfully enters such properties or damages them.

Last month, authorities also sealed a property in Fuvahmulah that was allegedly being used as a "drug café" for the sale and use of illicit substances. The property is located in Gulistaange, Funaadu ward.
