Former President Mohamed Nasheed, who has won the Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) Chairperson Election, is ahead of MDP opposition MP's in their own constituencies. 

MDP announced the provisional results for their Friday Chairperson Election last night, with Nasheed receiving a total of 21,301 votes. Rival candidate South Galolhu Constituency MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem received 9,462 votes.

Results show that Nasheed received more votes in Meekail's own constituency. Meekail received 119 votes and Nasheed received 166 votes.

Even though MDP's PG Leader Ibrahim Nazil, who has major support from the South Addu Hithadhoo Constituency, worked against him, Nasheed had won the constituency as well. In the South Hithadhoo Constituency, Nasheed received 328 votes, with Meekail receiving 190 votes.

Nasheed was also in the lead in the South Hulhumale' Constituency, which is MP Ahmed Shamheed's constituency. Ahmed Shamheed played a significant role in Meekail's campaign as well. Nasheed received 180 votes from the constituency, with Meekail receiving 103 votes.

Meekail had the support of the opposition MP, North Galolhu Constituency MP Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu) as well. However, Nasheed was ahead in the constituency with a large margin, receiving 195 votes. Meekail received 51 votes.

Nasheed also took the lead in Kendhoo, which is a constituency of MP Mauroof Zakir, who had campaigned strongly against Nasheed. Nasheed received 142 votes and Meekail received 127 votes. However, Meekail had the lead in the ballot box placed in Mauroof's island of Kendhoo with 88 votes. Nasheed received 29 votes.

Out of the 12 MDP members in Parliament, the only person who stood with Nasheed in the election was Thoddoo Constituency MP Hussain Sameer. Nasheed received 455 votes from the constituency, with Meekail receiving 122 votes. Nasheed received 175 votes from the Maavah constituency, while Meekail received 59 votes. Nasheed received 281 votes from the Maradhoo constituency and Meekail received 113 votes.

Meekail took the lead in three constituencies from three MDP MP's. One of the constituencies is Hanimaadhoo, which is MDP Interim Chairperson Abdul Ghafoor Ghanee's. Meekail took the lead in this constituency with 179 votes, while Nasheed received 159 votes.

Meekail received 109 votes from the Vaikaradhoo constituency, while Nasheed received 90 votes. Nasheed received 51 votes from the Keyodhoo constituency, with Meekail receiving 66 votes.
